Whenever I want a fulfilling yet refreshing lunch before a meeting or when going out with a friend, I choose healthy, nutritious salads packed with crunchy vegetables loaded with fiber and vitamins and topped with protein such as salmon, chicken or eggs.
A couple of weeks ago, we decided to visit Eat Your Greens! -a healthy, fast-food restaurant- that opened its doors in Kluuvi shopping centerin downtown Helsinki offering delicious and healthy salads, raw cakes and smoothies. From the Eat Your Greens!menu you can choose amongst 6 salads inspired by certain culture or you can completely customize and tweak your salad by choosing the ingredients to your liking. It’s very simple, you just choose one of the recommended 6 salad bases and then add 4 main toppings or create your own salad from scratch! Healthy dressings, such as avocado yogurt, orange vinaigrette, balsamic vinaigrette, chipotle vinaigrette, chilli hummous, tahini-harissa yogurt, and coconut lime, can help elevate your tasty salad. All dressings are made in the restaurant and are vegan, the yogurt used is plant-based.
TheMiraggio Thermal Spa Resortis an oasis of tranquil luxury hidden in the pristine nature of the Kassandra peninsula in Halkidiki, Northern Greece. Miraggio is situated at the southeasternmost tip of the peninsula surrounded by pine tree mountains and the aquamarine waters of the North Aegean Sea. When we first arrived by car at Miraggio on a rainy day in early September (there was glorious sunshine throughout our stay though), we were simply blown away by the size and elegance of the resort.
Food is one of my life’s greatest pleasures. And, as a voracious and dedicated carnivore, there is nothing more soulful and soothing that a good quality steak cooked to perfection. Whenever, I want to spoil myself, there is only one place I visit in order to fulfil my appetite and treat my palate to a juicy steak: GOODWIN Steakhouse.
The key to a great steakhouse is the steak. GOODWIN Steakhouse does it right, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Last month we had a meeting over a wonderful meal at GOODWIN Steakhouse. We ordered a rib-eye, a filet mignon and a New York steak and they were all from delicious, top quality meat, cooked beautifully.
Last week on a sunny spring day we decided to have dinner at Helkan Keittiö (‘Helka’s Kitchen’, in English) situated in the center of Helsinki on Pohjoinen Rautatiekatu 23. We recently moved to a new flat close to Hotel Helka and it is convenient for us to go there even with our baby boy. We did take our 4,5 month old boy with us, his first time in a restaurant!
“Children are made readers on the laps of their parents.”― Emilie Buchwald
I’ve always been fascinated by fairy tales. My mother tells that I was a bookworm from a young age. She used to read fairy tales to me when I was an infant and I would be fascinated by the pictures and the different voices my mother made. She kept reading my favourite books over and over to the point where I eventually knew them by heart. By the time I could speak, I would pretend I was ‘reading’ the story book by myself simply by turning the pages and narrating the story as I remembered it from my mother using the illustrations to navigate me through the plot! I would even imitate her tone and expressions to add tension and drama! Funny little girl I was.
On May 1st I invited a friend couple -Liisa and Jan Wallenius- to join me and my fiance for lunch on a cruise to enjoy a delicious lunch buffet menu surrounded by the beautiful archipelago scenery around Finland’s capital, Helsinki. We met our friends at 10:50 at Helsinki Market Square (Kauppatori), where this cute boat was waiting for its guests to arrive and at 11:00 we embarked on our journey. The sea was calm and peaceful and the staff pleasant and polite. This looks like a promising trip!
May Day is known as ‘Vappu’ in Finnish. This is a public holiday that is the only carnival-style street festivity in the country. People young and old, particularly students, party outside, picnic and their high school graduation white caps, just like the one I’m wearing in the photo below!
