Insights from Fujitsu Forum 2014

One of the brightest minds in today’s IT world is Dr. Joseph Reger, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) with various Fujitsu entities since 2002. As of August 1, 2014 he was appointed as CTO for Fujitsu’s Europe, Middle East, India and Africa (EMEIA) region. I had the pleasure of listening to Dr. Reger for the first time four years ago and ever since I always make sure to get a front seat to attend his keynotes. This year the opportunity to listen to his brilliant thoughts filled with unique insights and humour happened during the Fujitsu Forum 2014 in Munich, Germany.

On Day 0, during the press conference, Dr. Joseph Reger spoke about the Internet of Things and Digital Transformation and distinguished between ‘Digital Business vs. Digitalized Business‘. For instance, Starbucks offers an analog product (coffee) with a number of digitalized services developed around the analog product which include wifi, online meetings, big data analysis, products will become services.

Dr. Reger’s contribution in developing Fujitsu’s Cloud Computing Strategy is instrumental and in currently he is focusing on the Internet of Things and Industry 4.0 topics. Industry 4.0 is a term coined in Germany but it has rapidly spread in other nations to be defined as such ‘Industry 4.0 is part of the entire Digital Transformation value chain using IoT technology (not industry automation)’ In German, he term ‘Industrie 4.0’ refers to the fourth industrial revolution, a new wave of technological changes that will decentralize production control and trigger a paradigm shift in manufacturing. The first industrial revolution was the mechanization of production using water and steam power, it was followed by the second industrial revolution which introduced mass production with the help of electric power, followed by the digital revolution, the use of electronics and IT to further automate production. Fashionstore Pop-Up in downtown Helsinki!

I have been blogging since 2003 and professionally since 2006. In 2010, I started blogging for FORUM Shopping Center and in 2012 I was chosen as the One-To-Watch winner from Finland to blog for the GUESS Global Access blog and a brand ambassador for GUESS Watches.

You can read my GUESS Global Access Blog posts here: ‘I love me’ – Exhibition and Trade Fair in Helsinki! / Weekend Away in Paris /Day to Night in Finland /Denim Style in Finland

This year I’m excited for the Fashionstore Pop-Up to open its doors in FORUM Shopping Centre! The store name is named after www.fashionstore.fi, which is a Finnish online store, launched in March 2010. At Fashionstore Pop-Up you will find a wide variety of accessories such as bags, belts, shoes and jewellery.

Denim style in Finland

Who doesn’t love a new pair of denim jeans even though you have a couple more in your wardrobe?! Denim is the number one choice for people all over the world. It has taken the world by storm since 1930’s and still continues to inspire.

Denim is the ‘A and Z’ of my wardrobe; it can easily be tuned up or down based on my needs and mood. I always choose my jeans based on how well they flatter my body type and match with my lifestyle. I personally value comfort, quality and style. I wear denim for a casual look, at work and a glam night out. The possibilities are endless.

This is my favorite denim look and my all-time-favorite GUESS watch. Here I wear a dark colored denim dress by GUESS, a multi-striped waistcoat with fur appliqué perfect for cold winter days and my favorite silver/rose gold GUESS Watch.

Denim should no longer be limited to casual settings or daywear; there are polished denim dresses that are adding extra elegance and femininity to fashion’s most worn staple.

All that glitters..

Last week I posted about Glitter’s upcoming Member club event taking place in Glitter Forum. The first 100 lucky customers were given goody bags filled with amazing gifts! Take a look below, chocolate, make-up, hairproducts, Glitter jewellery, discount coupons and a giftcard for a cruise to Stockholm! Jealous? Wish you were there?!

No worries. Glitter is organising regular exclusive nights for its customers. All you have to do is to join the Club Glitter and receive the newsletter, styling tips, special offers and invitations to upcoming events! You can join here: http://glitter.eu/club-glitter/

‘Small details, big difference’ is the the slogan of Glitter one of the biggest chains of accessories in Nothern Europe. I spoke with Taija Purhonen, store manager of Glitter Forum about the store she rans. “In 2011 Glitter Forum was selected as the store with the ‘Best Service’ of all Glitter stores! Internally in Glitter stores there are mystery shoppers who research and evaluate our service. This is to  guarantee that everyone receives high quality of servise,” explains Taija. “Our salespeople have their own personality, we don’t put words in people’s mouths,” she adds.

I know Taija a bit to know that she has a passion for motorcycles. I can’t help but asking “How come a biker girl look so stylish?” “My friends also say that at times I’m such a tomboy and at other times so lady-like!” Taija says smiling.

“Of course, I have to wear the newest and the latest of Glitter collections! The colours and the nice environment of Glitter draws you in!”, Taija comments enthusiastically.

All that glitters is fabulous!

Valentine’s Day is approaching and what a better way to treat your dear friend, sister, or girlfriend to shopping for jewelry. One of my dear friends got me a giftcard from Glitter worth 30€ and I had plenty of difficult decisions to make about what I should get.

As I entered Glitter Forum, shop manager Taija Purhonen and salesperson Antonia were friendly and ready to help me out in my quest to find my precious jewelry.

I spend an hour almost -poor Kim!- looking around the vast collection of accessories and jewelry. Great variety, lovely colours and a cozy atmosphere! Hard to narrow my choices down. I want them all! As we agree with Taija, a girl can never have enough jewelry and enough storage space to save all those possessions. We end up laughing about how much closet space a girl needs compared to a man!

For Valentine’s Day, head to to Glitter Forum and get a giftcard for your significant other. Satisfaction guaranteed!

For your eyes only!

2011 is here! In the beginning of each year, we all make up a list of our resolutions, promises of a new beginning. Top on my to-do list are a number of well-being tasks such as finally exercising regularily and having frequent medical check-ups.

So, yesterday, I walked into Optician store and eyewear boutique Arvola in Forum and had my vision checked. Optician Arto Martimo, from Muonio Lapland, has been working for 25 years in Arvola Forum, since 1985 when Forum Shopping Centre was build . Arto had my eyes examined with meticulous care and accuracy. I might not have 20/20 vision but my eyes are generally in good condition. However, I need glasses with sitting in front of the computer screen to write my blog posts :).

Then, with the help of Arto and Eeva, another friendly employee of Arvola, I looked around and  discovered fabulous frames in my favourite colours! Great variety, all the well-known eyewear brands plus until 31st January Arvola is having a sale of 20-60% to frames!
